Do I need an appointment?

No. RAPID is a walk-in only service. So, there is no need to book for an appointment in advance. You just need to show up to the clinic during our opening hours to get tested.

Do I need a Medicare card?

​

No Medicare card is required. Your appointment will be free even if you don’t have a Medicare card.

How much does it cost to test at RAPID?

​

RAPID is completely free. No Medicare card or health insurance is needed.

​

How long does it take to get my results?

​

You will get the results of your HIV and syphilis tests while you’re with your RAPID test facilitator. Chlamydia and gonorrhoea results are usually provided by the next business day (e.g. if you come in Saturday, you’ll generally get your results Tuesday – as we are closed Sundays and Mondays).

Does RAPID offer treatment?

No. As RAPID staff are not doctors or nurses, we are unable to provide treatment. We do, however, have a close working relationship with the Metro North Sexual Health and HIV Service (MN SHHS) and can coordinate a referral for treatment if you require one. MN SHHS also operates an on-site treatment clinic, which is appointment-based and can be booked through their service.

Does RAPID offer certificates for sex workers?

​

RAPID is definitely a safe and friendly place for sex workers. However, as we are not doctors or nurses, we are unable to provide certificates.
